With a cumulative increase in the popularity of Mac, the security question is dawning in every owner’s mind. Can Mac get viruses? Does, this kind of situation ever exist in your Mac? Are this things only a myth or Apple investing enough time to break this notion. Is it a wise decision to download an antivirus to defend my Mac? We, the users, are still scratching the surface but, a satisfactory conclusion is still remaining untouched. In this article I just tried to answer those few million dollar questions. Though, I already penned down a few articles about secured practices of your Mac.
Those are quite common questions that, I have to encounter oftenly. In such a scenario, allow me to remind you that, this is not a Windows platform, where you have to meet with virus problem. Mac share a limited window and it is a unix based operating system. A unix based operating system provides a number of security layer.
But, that does not implies from any point that, you are free from adware and malware problem. I discussed about this problem with many long term Mac user. They suggest me to use the antiviruses, like Bit defender, which is one of the chosen antiviruses to work on a Mac. It can efficiently detect and eliminate Mac malware and adware.
Personally, I feel that, a third party anti virus is a bit problematic on any platform. It will slow down your system. You can certainly deal with adware problem efficiently without any help of any third-party software. Apple has included few measures to tackle this malware and adware problem. In that case, using of any kind of anti virus completely depend on you. You can give a complete and strict instruction to your Mac that, not to use any application unless, it is downloaded from App store or any trusted source. If you are going to follow these rules, I can say you that, Mac’s security barrier will give you a complete peace of mind.
Accidentally, if you found that, adware is installed in your Mac, you can delete it from your browser extension. If it is not cutting the ice, hunt the malicious software in Mac’s library folder. Apple also guide you, to provide an easy way out. Search in your browser “How to remove unwanted adware ” and a Apple’s official page will direct you to the probable location of adware.
This forceful inclusion of adware and malware may affect your Mac’s speed in a considerable proportion. You can avoid this problem and can also speed up your Mac, by simply following this steps,
1. Hold the “Option” button from your keyboard.
2. Now, go to the “GO” option. You can find it at the menu bar.
3. Now, if you doing the entire work around by holding the “Option” button on your keyboard, a “Library” option will be visible in the column. If you are not holding the “Option” button, the “Library” option will not visible in the column. So, remember the trick.
4. Open the “Library” and find the cookies and caches folder. Now, select the entire files on the both folder and delete it entirely. But, be careful. Do not empty the trash unless you restarted your Mac, at least once.
There are lots of blogging sites out there on the web who will recommend you to download an antivirus and test your OS X routine basis. I will say, there is no need of any antivirus. Be suspicious, Be obedient ( follow the set of rules) and you will find the complete peace of mind.
I wish, this article helps you to solve the problem on your Mac. If you think that, there are thousands of less-caffeinated souls like us and are searching for this kind of information then, please be that voice which reaches them by sharing this article.
