Restriction is good for maintaining discipline but, at times it become irritable when things are needed to be done but we are unable to do due to several restrictions. Most of us are quite a familiar of this situation as we face several restrictions on opening various websites in our school, college or workplace computer. But, sometimes we need them seriously. Usually, these restrictions are created by the network administrator of the concern. However, Google may help you to bypass these restrictions that you can access restricted websites from your browser. Let’s see how we can use Google proxy server to bypass network restrictions.
Google translate
Google translate, which is quite popular among us as a language translator tool. We usually use it to translate an email, a Facebook post or a Tweet from a friend abroad. Apart from other functional features of this service, one stunning feature is that it can be used as a proxy server. Let’s see how we can maneuver it to reach our goal.
Procedure:
Open the Google translate page and select the source language other than a language you speak( like Spanish) and the target language to the language you do speak( like English).
Now, type the URL of the website which is blocked by your local network administrator, in the source box and let Google translate it. When Google finishes translating, the URL remains same but becomes clickable. Now, click on the link and you can browse the blocked site within Google translator’s page.
Advantage and limitations:
Google translate is very easy to use and brings an original like copy provided that the CSS and images are not blocked on your end. But, this trick is only applicable for bypassing local networking blockings. However, those websites which are blocked by your ISP or by your country can’t be accessed by this trick.
Google mobilizer
How many of us rack our brain to know how we view any website in our smart handheld? It is Google Mobilizer which works behind the screen. It covers up non-mobile friendly websites into a mobile friendly attire. Google provides two type of search engine, one is global (www.Google.com) and another one is country specific ( www.google.co.in, www.google.ie, etc.). Either of these types has embedded mobilizer for optimum performance. However, this stupendous tool can also be used as a proxy server. How? Let us start the journey.
Procedure:
Though both global and country-specific Google search engine provides mobilizer yet it is better to use country specific Google search engine for using it as a proxy server like “www.google.ru (Russia)”.
Now, type “www.google.ru/gwt/x” to open Google Mobilizer in Russian server. Type your desired URL in the dedicated URL box and click the “Go” button. If you desired not to view images from the site you may hide it by checking the “Hide Image” check box.
Advantages and limitations:
This proxy is suitable for heavy text loading sites, you can also disable images to shorten the page load time.
Checking whether the above said Proxy Servers are working or not
You may check your IP by entering a proxy checking website address in your browser and write down the IP address. Now, put the same address as a source text in Google Translate page and open it within the translator’s page by applying above described procedure. If you see both IP addresses are different then your Google proxy server is working well.
